Background to the TCC's support of Act For Peace

The TCC's former Commission for Christian World Service (CWS) evolved from its predecessor, the TCC World Justice and Development Commission, in 2003 to provide a clearer focus for CWS work in Tasmania, through closer alignment with the National Council of Churches in Australias CWS commission (in 2008 renamed Act For Peace).  Between 2008 and 2016, responsibility for Act For Peace promotion and education in Tasmania was the responsibility of the Act For Peace Community Fundraising Teams Development Officer for Victoria & Tasmania, Mr Jeff Wild, based in Melbourne.  From 2018 to October 2023, Mr Andy Corkill, Relationship Fundraising Manager with Act For Peace in Sydney was the Act For Peace officer liaising with the TCC.  Restructuring of the Sydney office saw Ruthann Richardson, Chief Fundraising and Marketing Officer take over the liaison role from November 2023.

The main areas of Act For Peace involvement in Tasmania are:
 - the Christmas Bowl Appeal
 - Refugee Week
 - educational visits by NCCA staff
 - media promotions
 - preparation and distribution of resource/promotional material.
